Mobile Messaging for Universities and Schools

Millennials prefer to communicate via text and many other channels other than email, which is why many campuses have begun to integrate text messaging programs to engage with students. Although some universities only use these programs for emergency notification, they have the opportunity to provide so much more with MOBIT. Utilizing the SMS network and mobile landing pages from MOBIT can really enhance the user experience as against the typical receipt of 160 text characters. Use our landing pages to send audio and video updates from events, send pre-event registration forms  and of course use the mobile channel for immediate and emergency announcements.

How schools and universities can use text marketing

Note:  Remember to make sure your mobile messages and call-to-actions are compliant! For a typical messaging program, this means making sure you include what people should expect to receive when they opt in, how frequently you will send text messages, instructions on how to opt-out, a link to terms and conditions and privacy policy, and a “Message and Data Rates May Apply” disclosure.

Here's how

  • Text students to remind them of open enrollments but go one step further with MOBIT and provide them with the mobile page to submit their details and even select their course preference.
  • Add your school or university mobile page URL to the student and faculty Facebook page to encourage opt ins to the school mobile channel.
  • Post your school keyword (e.g text Campus to 72000) around the campus so that students can text in and receive information about the school, advice, guides, notices of special events and so much more.
  • Promote open jobs on campus or internships via mobile text and MOBIT mobile pages.  Use a special keyword (e.g text campusjobs to 72000) for students to use and receive all the information they require in 'page view' format rather than 160 text characters which is so limiting.
  • Let you students know about upcoming events and enable them to RSVP so that event staff can gain instant views as to possible numbers attending.
  • SMS and MOBIT mobile pages are so useful for staff and faculty announcement. Add a quick video update from the Dean or faculty heads and let the team know what's happening in their area.
  • Use MOBIT and SMS messages for quick alerts and severe weather announcements.
  • Send out school enrollment brochures and packs using SMS and MOBIT mobile pages where students can simply select the course brochure of interest, view it on their smartphone of download it for offline reading.
