Deadline for GDPR compliance is May 25th 2018

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires that 'businesses' (clients using the MOBIT platform) are accountable and transparent about the personal data they hold on their customers, and what they use that data for.

GDPR came into effect on 25th May 2018. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679 is a regulation in European Union (EU) law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union. It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU.

MOBIT have revised our internal processes and rewritten our Privacy Policy  to comply with the new GDPR standards.

GDPR changes the way businesses collect and use customer information, aiming to make the future of customer communications more transparent and balanced. In addition, GDPR provides the end consumer more confidence and trust with the brands they wish to engage with. This reinforces the philosophy MOBIT have always stood by – to make sure you’re messaging the correct people, with the right message at the right time, and with compliance.

Ultimately, it is our customers’ responsibility as the 'data controller' (refers to the person or people who determine the purpose (why) and means (how) of the processing of personal data) of their mobile list to ensure they are compliant with GDPR. As the Data processor, MOBIT advocates customers not uploading any list to the MOBIT platform to process unless they have express consent from the end user.

As a trusted mobile messaging provider, MOBIT supports its customers to transition their business processes to ensure compliance with GDPR and if you have any questions or wish to validate processes, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
